Featured: United Way Campaign 2011

Sep 7, 2011   //   by Chris Sizemore   //   Featured Story, Volunteering  //  No Comments

For almost 100 years, the Greater Kalamazoo United Way (GKUW) has partnered with individuals, companies, organizations, foundations, members of organized labor and area health and human service providers to advance the common good in Kalamazoo County.

Kalamazoo County has a long legacy of philanthropy and continues to be arguably one of the most philanthropic-minded communities in the country. GKUW could not do the amazing work they do without supporters who so generously give of their time, talents and resources. Together, GKUW, residents and nonprofits are improving lives and the community.

A community of connected individuals, all people, united and working together for the benefit of all, is at the heart of what GKUW represents. GKUW recognizes that it is part of something greater, and that a tear anywhere weakens the entire social fabric.

GKUW advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. The focus of GKUW  is on Education, Income and Health - the building blocks for a good quality life. GKUW recruits the people and organizations who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.

Volunteer Kalamazoo has a fantastic partnership with GKUW and has for over 45 years. GKUW supports Volunteer Kalamazoo with funding on an annual basis  as well as providing operational space in their building. Volunteer Kalamazoo  facilitates the Day of Caring Program in parntership with GKUW.

Join Volunteer Kalamazoo and be a part of changing the Kalamazoo Community, by supporting GKUW. The 2011 Campaign is about to kick-off and they need your help to raise over $9 million for the Kalamazoo Community. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer. That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.
