The Volunteer Center would like thank volunteer Nicholas Hunter for his contribution as guest contributor for our Nonprofit Spotlight series.
For this week’s Nonprofit Spotlight I spoke with Julie VanderNoot from Bronson Methodist Hospital.
The mission of the Bronson Methodist Hospital is to provide excellent health care services. They continuously strive to provide healthcare in a new way to the people of Southwest Michigan.
Nick: What are some of the volunteer opportunities at Bronson Methodist Hospital?
Julie: Bronson volunteers provide a wide variety of services:
Clerical and office assistance, delivery services, greeting the public, pet therapy, support to patient care units, handmade items, magazine and book donations.
Nick: How many volunteers do you typically use during the year?
Nick: Is there anything special a volunteer should know before they get started with your organization?
Julie: To become a Bronson volunteer you must be:
- Available three to four hours per week
- Willing to follow appearance standards
- Customer service oriented
- Able to make minimum time commitment listed below
- Able to complete pre-placement requirements, orientation and training
Nick: What’s the best thing a volunteer ever did for your organization? Or one volunteer memory that really stands out in your mind?
Julie: Volunteers have provided amenities that couldn’t be possible without their support. They are a dedicated and crucial part of the team.
