Workshop Agenda
Teen Volunteers 101 -A review of
the “rules of engagement” when working with teens. Common terms, basic
principles, and an overview of the
program.
Benefits of and
Barriers to Teen Volunteering -We’ll explore the reasons that teens volunteer, their
commitment, what they gain from the experience and what the organizations
where they volunteer gain as well. We’ll also review what things can
sabotage your program and discourage teens from volunteering at your
organization.
Marketing and
Recruitment -Write an
effective job description for a meaningful job first, and then find the
right teen to do the job. Target your marketing to where the teens are and
increase the return on investment of your time. You’ll learn how to
maximize the tools that are available to you from the Volunteer Center’s
website to recruit volunteers and report their service hours
too.
Orientation,
Training and Supervision -Learn what is important to review with teens
and how a good orientation and training coupled with proper supervision
can improve your volunteer’s experience.
Recognition and
Satisfaction Surveys - Do you really need to
do this for short-term summer volunteers? Explore ways to give recognition
and use survey feedback to improve your volunteer
program. |
